Physical Danger
Journalism can be a dangerous profession, especially for those who leave the comforting embrace of American shores. Many reporters travel the world reporting on stories from around the globe, which means facing whatever dangers lurk in those particular corners. From malaria to terrorism to tigers and lions and bears, there are any number of hazards you'll face in order to report the news that matters.
Don't worry—you don't have to go abroad if you don't want to. You'll probably be safer writing for the arts or real estate section in the city newspaper. Just don't expect to change the world with your column about the popular musical opening on Broadway.
