Fame
There's fame for the occasional marriage and family therapist who publishes a widely-received and highly- praised book, or who hosts their own cable program. Most M&F therapists, however, are destined to wallow in anonymity throughout the course of their professional lives.
Although not strictly a marriage and family therapist, Sigmund Freud did his fair share of dabbling in the subject, and he's about as famous as they come. Which gives a ton of hope to all those with mommy issues.
