Odds of Getting In
In the future, you'll drink Soylent for every meal, "drive" a driverless car, and know lots and lots and lots of medical assistants.
Okay, so the jury's still out on the Soylent thing and driverless cars…but the medical assistant profession really is projected to grow by nearly thirty percent over the next decade. There are a couple of reasons for this.
First off, there are going to be a lot more old people going forward. Because the elderly require a great deal of medical care, doctors will have to expand their practices to meet demand, and this means hiring more medical assistants to handle basic tasks.
Second, the implementation of the Affordable Care Act has increased the number of insured people in the United States by several million. Because more patients can now afford to go to the doctor for preventive care, more medical assistants are needed to do routine work in hospitals and other medical facilities.
