Glory

Probably not, no. Fame is at least possible if unlikely, but glory not so much. Most microbiologists work in labs inside large buildings and hang out mostly with other microbiologists. You can publish your research findings, and if they're good you might achieve some amount of notoriety with your peers, maybe even win a Nobel Prize, which would mean the scientific community will be at least familiar with your name. Just for the sake of argument, though, how many Nobel Prize winners can you name in 10 seconds? Ready, go!

Dum, dum, dum....

How's it going?

3, 2...and 1. Ok, how'd you do? None? You couldn't name one? Well, that should pretty much answer your question about glory.
