Occupational Therapy can be a very rewarding occupation, because you get to actually see the fruits of your labor. You may find yourself part of a team of professionals working together towards your patient’s recovery. You could help a mentally disabled student become the school mascot, or coach a paroled convict through the job interview process. Or, if you work with children, you get to be “the fun guy/girl who has all those toys.”

Need a little professional pat on the back? AOTA hands out several awards each year, and has categories for OTs and occupational therapy assistants who have had a global impact on the profession.
