Power

With all of these cameras and microphones pointed directly at you and the deep sports knowledge you possess, you have more power than just about everyone else watching at home.

You'll be somewhat restricted by the stories you can cover and what exactly you can get away with saying on the air, but you're speaking on a regular basis through the most powerful means of communication on the planet. Thousands (if not millions) of people will listen to you regularly and base many of their own opinions on what you say.

As far as the events themselves, you're as helpless as any fan sitting anxiously in the bleachers. Your influence over the sports you cover is more like the kind a cable news journalist has over the news—they don't control the events, but their opinions can make the difference in how the stories are viewed.
