Physical Danger
Player magazine ranked toll taker as one of the top twenty-five most dangerous careers, in a list that includes kamikaze pilot and narcotics dealer. Pretty hardcore, if you ask us. That said, there wasn't a whole lot of that "science" stuff backing up their arguments.
They do make a few salient points, though. The sedentary lifestyle, along with the exhaust fumes and the potential exposure to germs from every person who passes through, makes for more health risks than you might imagine. Not as dangerous as a Himalayan mountain climber, certainly, but you're not exactly heading down the road to good health as a toll taker.
