Stress
Some say that stress is what makes lawyers act like lawyers. And we think that's actually pretty spot on.
Trial attorneys are under a tremendous amount of stress twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. As a trial lawyer, you don't work for eight hours a day, five days a week. You work until your work is done, no matter how many hours a day or days of the week that is. You don't leave your work at the office as most professionals are able to do. You can't.
As we previously mentioned, your clients are depending on you to win. And that is precisely your goal. If the facts of the case aren't in your favor, winning on behalf of your client is still your goal. And if you're working on a criminal case, there are certainly a number of ethical dilemmas that come to mind. "Hmmm, my job is to prosecute Bubba, but I think Bubba is innocent." Or "Hmmm, my job is to defend Bubba, but I think Bubba should fry."
Having to face and answer those questions might stress you out just a tad.
