Fame

If credited for writing a script, a writer's name appears in the opening credits of the show—pretty cool, right? Yes, many people now just DVR everything and fast-forward through all of the non-TV show parts (we think that's the technical term). It's cool though, you can admit it. We've all done it. But the name thing is still pretty neat, though. Whatever the case, just know that there's not much fame to go along with that dwindling fortune.

Writers lucky enough to end up on a successful show tend to receive more accolades—understandably so, right? The Emmys, the biggest award show for TV, are broadcast annually on network TV to an audience that isn't quite that of the Super Bowl. Few writers are lucky enough to win an Emmy, but the ones who do, get a few seconds to mug for the camera before getting played offstage by that lovely awards show music.

If you're not one of these few, you'll probably never achieve a tabloid-worthy level of fame. Now that we think about it, even if you are one of these lucky few, that tabloid kind of fame probably isn't in your future either.
