Odds of Getting In
Do you know how hard it is to get into medical school? It's harder than playing a game of Monopoly or Risk to the bitter end. First of all, your GPA has to be, like, almost perfect. Then there's the MCAT, which is a notorious jerk of an exam that you have to take before you can even apply to medical school (source).
If you manage to do well on the MCATs, though, then you just have to compete with about 50,000 other applicants for roughly 20,000 slots (source). Before you get out your calculator, we'll tell you that means just over one-third of all applicants get in. Sure, there's demand for doctors, but it's because we're so picky about who we let become a doctor in the first place.
