Common Core Standards
Grade 7
Language L.7.6
Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression.
In case if this standard seems like a no-brainer, it is—it's pretty much just a summary standard. If students have been hitting the other five Language standards, they'll probably know enough vocabulary words (and if not, they'll be able to search for their definitions themselves), which means this standard will be covered.
P.S. If your students need to brush up on their spelling and grammar, send 'em over to our Grammar Learning Guides so they can hone their skills before conquering the Common Core.
