Character Analysis
Willie Flittman is married to Evy, and we don’t learn too much about him other than that he really hates his work horse, Drummer, and he constantly feels sorry for himself. To make himself feel better after being rejected from military service during World War I, Willie starts buying musical instruments with his extra money. When Mary Rommely dies, he leaves his family to wander the streets of Brooklyn as a one-man-band.
