How we cite our quotes:
Quote #4
But what cared I that set him on to ride,
I, starved for the bosom of his faery bride. (2.7-8)
At one point, our speaker was quite willing to follow other impulses wherever they led him – including the desire to be swallowed up by a mythic love. Hmm… watched too many romantic comedies, did we?
Quote #5
This dream itself had all my thought and love. (2.16)
Okay, okay, so this is sort of the opposite of perseverance. Here our speaker willingly admits to moments when he was more than happy to be swept up in the moment, caught up by love (or lust) for the woman he's writing about at the time, and to not move forward in his own work.
