Character Analysis
Miss Lavinia is one of Dora Spenlow's two aunts, the ones who take Dora in to their home when her father dies suddenly. She is also the one of the two who is supposed to have had a brush with romance in her past (with a fellow named Pidger, whom David suspects never thought of Miss Lavinia at all). As such, when David comes courting Dora (accompanied by Traddles), Miss Lavinia takes the lead in speaking to David, since she's all knowledgeable about men and all. Eventually, after meeting with David, Miss Lavinia agrees to let David visit regularly, and to bring Miss Betsey to speak to the Misses Spenlows about future plans.
