David Copperfield Resources
Movies
This production of David Copperfield, by the famous director George Cukor, features some film greats, including Lionel Barrymore, Basil Rathbone (who played Sherlock Holmes a bit later on), and Elsa Lanchester (the Bride of Frankenstein!).
This one we want to see! It's stars Ian McKellen when he was a little boy. Yes, that Ian McKellen – the one who plays Gandalf and Magneto!
This one starred Richard Attenborough (who is awesome) and Laurence Olivier (who is famous).
The…animated…version? With animals? What? This one is also notable because it features the voice talents of Julian Lennon, John Lennon's son.
This one stars tiny, tiny Daniel Radcliffe, long before he ever became Harry Potter. It also has Maggie Smith, who plays Mrs. McGonagall in the Harry Potter films. And Ian McKellen, the aforementioned Gandalf and Magneto, is in this one, too.

That's quite the beard he's sporting there.
We feel bad for the guy – he always looks like the world's ending in these pictures.

A thorough introduction to the novel, and an excellent general reference site.
Oh my gosh, we love this. It doesn't have entries for every year yet, but this is a year-by-year breakdown of the events of Charles Dickens's life. And considering how much he packed into those 58 years, it's a pretty cool list.
An introduction not only to David Copperfield, but also to Dickens's biography. Contains a tiny map of the southeast of England where David Copperfield takes place.
A great biography of one of Dickens's illustrators, Phiz, also known as Hablot Knight Browne. (Hablot? Really?) Phiz illustrated many of Dickens's early, more comedic works, including David Copperfield, but they stopped collaborating around the publication of Great Expectations.
