How we cite our quotes: (chapter.paragraph)
Quote #1
[Renée to Bella:] "There's something... strange about the way you two are together… The way he watches you – it's so... protective. Like he's about to throw himself in front of a bullet to save you or something." (3.23)
Is Edward overprotective of Bella? How might his behavior change when she turns into a strong vampire?
Quote #2
I could see Victoria's face… her crimson eyes glowing… she held Edward responsible for the demise of her love, James. (3.191)
Apparently, love can also inspire hatred. So are love and hatred just two sides of the same coin? Or should "real" love also be turned toward your enemies?
Quote #3
[Edward's note to Bella:] "I'll be back so soon you won't have time to miss me. Look after my heart – I've left it with you." (4.26)
It's like Edward is living vicariously and experiencing "having a heart" through Bella. We often associate a heart with having emotions. Edward obviously has emotions. But how might his emotional life be affected by not having a heart?
