Orestes
Orestes is the main character and protagonist of The Flies. The play focuses on his transformation from a form-less young man to a decisive, conscious, and powerful force. Not only is Orestes the hero of The Flies – but he's also a hero for Jean-Paul Sartre and his brand of existentialism. Orestes realizes his freedom and embraces it. He makes choices through action and has he courage of his convictions. Plus he doesn't let anyone mess with him or his freedom.
