Going Bovine Chapter 11 Summary

In Which I Recount the Untold Joys of MRIs and Open-Backed Hospital Gowns

  • Things aren't looking good. Cam's been through the gamut of medical testing, and is getting an MRI.
  • He realizes things are really bad when his dad starts calling him "buddy" and trying to do things like have a campfire and make s'mores.
  • His dad gets him an appointment with a specialist, who diagnoses him with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, a degenerative neurological disease more commonly known as mad cow disease.
  • Bottom line? It's going to kill Cam, and in a matter of just a few months. But first he's going to suffer from delusions, dementia, muscle weakness, and the twitchiness that's already gotten him into trouble. This isn't good at all.
