Going Bovine is a play on the fact that Cameron contracts Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, which is a human variant of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, otherwise known as mad cow disease. The whole story is an elaborate hallucination that Cam suffers as a result of the disease eating away at his brain—so Cameron could be said to be going bovine. Think of it like going mad, but with a bovine twist.
