Hestia (Vesta) Gossip

Hestia (Vesta) Gossip

Spotted... on Mount Olympus or Asgard. xoxo Gossip Shmoop

For a while now, Hestia has been meaning to get a fire going out on 46 Hestia, the cold little asteroid named after her.

The highly honored Vestal Virgins of ancient Rome worshiped Vesta, the Roman version of Hestia. It was their job to always keep the sacred flame going. They must've gone through a ton of firewood.

You can still see where the Vestal Virgins hung out in Rome. Field trip, anyone?

Hestia is the name of a 1975 sci-fi novel by C.J. Cherryh, in which an earthling engineer falls in love with a sexy alien cat woman. (We couldn't make this stuff up if we tried.)
