This movie is the story of Simba: how he grows up, confronts the issues of adulthood, and marries his childhood sweetheart—all while keeping his mane luxurious and full.

It's Simba's story—the events of his life are what set the plot in motion. The movie is called The Lion King, after all, and he's a lion king. Yeah, okay, Mufasa is a lion king, too. So is Simba's newborn son, whom we meet at the end of the movie. But that's just hairsplitting.
