Case File: Mut vs. Sekhmet

Police Reports

Case description: Plaintiff (Mut) accuses Defendant (Sekhmet) of squatting on her temple grounds at Karnak by installing hundreds of stone statues of herself.

Case status: Settled out of court. Sekhmet explained that she didn't make the statues. Amunhotep III put them in the temple in honor of Sekhmet and to keep a plague from killing Egyptians. Mut thought this was a splendid idea and offered to sponsor the project by adding her name to it. Sekhmet-Mut's statues continue to guard the temple today.
