Revolver Chapter 13 Summary

The Call of the Wild

  • The first day Maria gets out of bed after being sick, she tells her kids to love others. She cares a lot about the Bible, and explains that it teaches love is more important than anything else.
  • As spring starts to arrive, so do boats from everywhere, filled with people coming to get their hands on the gold for themselves.
  • Einar goes out to the shore and watches as the boats come rushing in—there's still some ice between the boats and the shore, so they have to wait a little longer to dock.
  • He watches one day as a group gets out of the boat and onto a dog sled, hoping to make it to shore. They don't.
  • Einar thinks to himself how impatient they were getting out of the boat; he also reckons freezing to death on the ice would be a horrible way to die.
  • Finally, when the people reach the shores, they swarm the area, searching for gold. One man even goes mad—yelling and shouting about the fact that there is no gold left.
  • Mr. Salisbury tries to help the guy, but he shoots himself in the head before anyone can get to him.
  • That day, Einar sees a strange man looking man with no left thumb or the first time.
