Take a look at the story that Chaucer's saucy character, the Wife of Bath, tells on the pilgrimage to Canterbury. She lifts the medieval tale of the "Wedding of Sir Gawain and Dame Ragnell." Gawain isn't named in this tale, but believe us – he is the inspiration. - "The Knight's Tale"
This tale from Chaucer might be set in ancient Greece instead of England (weird, we know), but it's interesting to compare the knights' code in this story to that of Gawain in Sir Gawain and the Green Knight.
