Stanza 10 Summary

Get out the microscope, because we’re going through this poem line-by-line.

Lines 55-60

The sun was gone now; the curl'd moon
  Was like a little feather
Fluttering far down the gulf; and now
She spoke through the still weather.
Her voice was like the voice the stars
  Had when they sang together.

  • It seems to be night when the woman speaks. We're told that the sun is gone and the "curl'd" (crescent) moon looks like (simile time) a small feather. It's small because—like the Earth—it's really far below our damsel.
  • Weather update: the air is still in space (with no clouds to make it rain, of course).
  • Also, when the damozel speaks, it sounds like the stars are singing.
  • Uh, didn't the speaker mention that before, like in the stanza just before this one? Maybe he's worried we'll forget.
