Smith is you're standard, everyday bad dude. Well okay, he's a computer program… but he's still bad. At first it's a matter of performing his role as a program in the Matrix by trying to stop Neo from being retrieved. But soon, we find he has a mind of his own and seeks to get out of the Matrix at the expense of Morpheus and the rest of the Nebuchadnezzar crew and, ultimately, the human race as a whole.
