Charlie

This shouldn't exactly come out of left field. While their budding romance serves as a subplot in the movie, it's worth noting that their relationship also does help Maverick take some steps in the right direction on his journey to being Top Gun.

How's that? Well, Charlie challenges him, and calls him on his crap, for one. But more importantly, she gives Maverick something to care about other than himself and his flying. He sees what Goose has in his family, and he sees how he and Charlie feel about himself, and we don't think it's too big of a leap to think that maybe he wants to settle into that kind of comfy romance, too.
