1. Consider the timing of the United State's entry into WWI.
   • With such a late entry into the conflict, what role was the U.S. able to play?
   • How critical were American troops to the Allied victory?
   • What do you think would have happened if the U.S. had not entered the war in 1917? 
2. Was the commander of the American Expeditionary Force, General John Pershing, right to insist that American soldiers fight together under American commanders instead of being split up and sent to fight under French and British commanders? 
   • Why or why not?
3. Did the United States earn the right to define the terms of peace?
   • Why or why not?
   • Did President Wilson succeed in doing so? Explain.
