be waiting a while while you wait let's start by figuring out what sedimentary

rocks actually are there are three main types of rocks in the world igneous

metamorphic and sedimentary they're all fun and really important but today we're [very large sedimentary rocks in the background]

going to focus on sedimentary rocks sedimentary rocks started out as

sediment a mix of sand silt dirt and tiny pebbles sediment collects at the bottom

of valleys or different bodies of water like lakes oceans and seas new layers of [sediment at the bottom of an ocean bed]

sediment collect on top the old ones building up until there are bunch of

layers of sediment all piled up on top of each other kind of like the way dirty [a bedroom with dirty laundry strewn everywhere]

ocean will make you clean it all up well for millions and millions of years all

of those layers of sediment create pressure and heat cementing the sediment [sediment at the bottom of the ocean heating up]

isn't the only thing that collects at the bottom of bodies of water when it [a baby doll at the bottom of the ocean bed]

comes to making fossil fuels dead plants and animals are even more important than

after 300 million years of decomposition those bodies turned into fossil fuels

those layers of sedimentary rock provide a secure hiding place where fossil fuels [oil machine pumping into the sedimentary rocks]
