Glory
It's no surprise that some doctors develop a bit of a God complex. They're healers, they know a lot, and they usually help you feel better. Their patients usually throw praise and hosannas their way.
Practicing medicine involves a big dose of glory. But hey, if someone waves a magic medical wand that takes the pain away, wouldn't that be a glorious thing? If you're working as an anesthesiologist, we say it's fair to feel good about what you do (even if you're being compensated for it like a professional athlete). Just don't let it go to your head.
