Physical Danger
Stubbed phalanges aside, kicking tires and testing buttons aren't typically considered risky endeavors. That said, the work of aviation safety inspectors can have a surprising amount of physicality to it. Many plane components on an inspector's list are in hard to reach places, or up high on the vehicle, opening injury opportunities for the less than careful.
Of course, as a safety inspector (emphasis on the whole "safety" part), it really wouldn't do for you to fall prey to a preventable injury on the job. Call us overcautious, but the sight of a bumbling plane inspector wouldn't exactly inspire us to board an airplane.
