In every crossword constructor's life, a little [four-letter word for precipitation] must fall. It can be frustrating when it takes a while to hear back about a submission, or when you receive yet another rejection letter. The pay is relatively low, and crossword construction isn't a great way to pay the bills.

That said, it's also a fairly laid-back job that has its perks. You can make a few bucks doing something you like, set your own schedule, and challenge your brain while doing something you love. Even better, you can carry around a newspaper or smartphone and shove it in everyone's face, saying: "That's my name. I wrote this."
