Glory
You will be rewarded with the glory of being good at your job. Since everyone with teeth needs to visit a hygienist at some point, people can get pretty attached to those who do the job well.
Much like a good doctor, hair stylist, or a hair waxer—once you find a good hygienist, you don't stray.
Many of these patients know all about you, after all, they're your captive audience for forty-five minutes each visit. You'll need to talk about something.
You'll probably go into the detail about your life, your spouse, your boyfriend, your children, the Chinese restaurant where you got food poisoning, how horrible your Aunt Gertrude acted at your grandmother's funeral—you name it.
And, trust us, you will name it.
When you clean someone's teeth, it's personal.
When your day is booked with regular returning clients, know that it's because they like you.
