Glory
If you're looking for a job that will change the world you're probably thinking of Ambassador to Egypt. Your discoveries may be cool but world peace isn't suddenly going to spring up across the world based on some 4,000-year-old comb you find.
Your glory is likely to be limited to your field, your department, and hopefully the few academic journals that will print your work. At least you'll have something to send to your parents so they'll go, "Aww that's great" and totally not read it.
As far as the kind of glory that follows you beyond, we're sure history students and Egyptians alike will appreciate you adding to the knowledge of culture. That's probably it as far as your impact on history.
Unless you arrange to have yourself mummified, in which case you might end up being someone else's glorious discovery in a few thousand years.
