- Schooling: While the most important qualifications to become an EE are knowledge and capability, you're not likely to get hired without at least a bachelor's degree. That said, the higher level the degree, and the more prestigious the school, the better.
- Certifications: Some positions may require certain certifications from specific organizations. You can check out some of those here....
- Communication skills: They're a must. You may spend more time verbally communicating with your team and your bosses about a design than actually crunching numbers and constructing the thing. Don't forget those written communication skills, too. What kind of company operates without email?
- Computer savvy: There will be various kinds of software you'll have to familiarize yourself with and use regularly.
- Prior experience: It's endlessly important, even if it's independent. If you prove to an employer that you can build a soda-fetching, remote control robot from scratch, they'll see your value clear as day.
