Power

In the right hands, money can be a powerful tool. Grant writers get money into those hands, kick-starting vital projects, from middle school STEM programs in under-privileged areas to research into a cure for cancer. Winning a grant proposal can change lives—from one person to a million.

Of course not all grants are for such far-reaching, life-changing work. Grants have been awarded for research on truly bizarre things.

Just remember, with great power comes great responsibility. As a grant writer, the fate of an entire project may rest in your (hopefully) capable hands. You could be the hero of the day if a major proposal wins funding, or the zero of the day if your proposal gets a big fat denial.
