Odds of Getting In
Don't believe what the advertisements for Bob's Insurance Claims Adjuster University ("Earn your certification in seventy-two hours!") tell you: This isn't an industry that's experiencing much growth.
Sure, there have been more natural disasters in recent years, meaning more claims adjusters are needed who are willing to go out in the field in the wake of fires and floods. And, yes, rising medical costs, an increase in the number of insured filing health claims, and the growing elderly population will result in the hiring of claims adjusters working in health insurance.
These trends, however, are offset by automation. Many insurance claims are super simple to process; all that's needed is the proper application of technology, and not an actual person. So, unless the idea of getting involved in casualty, health, or property insurance really excites you, you should probably consider a different career.
