Glory
The thing about working in mines, is, you become a tight-knit family down there with your fellow miners. This includes the safety inspectors. The guys in the tunnel know that it's your job to make sure their job is as safe as possible, and many of them will see that the service you're providing is a valid and necessary part of the job.
More importantly, their family will appreciate the work you do, because you're the one who makes sure daddy or mommy makes it through the work day. The miners may even have a nickname for you, but...those are rarely flattering.
Of course, if you happen to work for the federal government, not everyone will see you as a part of the family. Some miners, from the bosses to the grunts, will see the safety inspector as another form of unnecessary intrusion by stuffed shirts down in Washington, D.C. You may only be trying to keep them safe, but to some people, any government is too much government.
