Odds of Getting In
If you have the smarts, the test scores, and the gumption it takes to get into a quality medical school, you probably have what it takes to become a nephrologist. All that's left to do is decide and commit to it. It's a long road, but if you grind through, you'll come out more weighed down with honors and degrees than a rap star with gold chains. And when you shine like that, everyone's going to be begging to hire you.
Despite a bit of a lull in good nephrology gigs at the moment there's still a decent projected job growth. There's little doubt that a certified nephrologist trained at a reputable medical school could find work somewhere. After all, there are billions of kidneys in the world, and lots of them need fixing.
