Like fame, glory is something you can earn in this field if you're working for something good, or, well, if you can take a personal sense of triumph from beating scientific challenges that may or may not harm poor old Mother Nature.
You're likely to feel best about working in this controversial field if you're working to make the food supply safer, pesticides more (or completely) natural, all while making sure your company reaps the benefits. Or, better yet, if you work for a regulatory agency aiming for the same goals.
