At one point in their lives, knowing 'mama' and 'dada' was a sufficient means of communication—supplemented with crying—but now that these kids are in school, it's time to expand that vocab. This substandard suggests they start off with the most commonly used nouns and verbs, the most important parts of speech for complete sentences.
