Common Core Standards
Grade 3
Reading RL.3.6
Distinguish their own point of view from that of the narrator or those of the characters.
This Common Core Standard is all about introducing to a student the idea that not everyone thinks the same way he or she does. The student might love biking, but a character in a story may absolutely hate it. Students don't necessarily have to realize that both points of view are valid at this time; that realization will come with time.
