Common Core Standards
Grade 3
Reading: Literature—Grade 3
These ten Literature standards are all about creating savvy readers. They're pretty similar to the Informational Text standards, but in this section, we're focusing on literature. And we're hoping kids are plugging in and enjoying what they read.
Don't be fooled: these standards still expect a lot of skill work. Third graders are being asked to point out textual evidence, become familiar with how literature works, and connect different literary works.
These skills combine what they learned in second grade with what they'll need to learn in fourth grade, and all of it's foundation for the above and beyond. They grow up so fast.
