Our intrepid agnostic-slash-atheist knows he doesn't believe in the God of Catholicism—and though he founded Chutengodianism, he never truly believes in the water tower's divinity either. While he envies those who believe in something, a constant for this character is his sense that he is without a god. In a word, he is godless.
