Inkheart Chapter 43 Summary

A Dark Place

  • Basta brings Dustfinger and Resa down from the nets after one night there, and locks them in the crypt under the church. Dustfinger mocks Basta's fear of ghosts and spirits, and Basta leaves them in a damp cell.
  • Resa has candles and paper on her, and she writes a question for Dustfinger: who is the girl? Dustfinger says she's Silvertongue's daughter, but he doesn't say that Silvertongue is another name for Mo—he knows he's hiding the truth, but he doesn't feel bad about it.
  • Finally Dustfinger gets Resa to tell him a story to chase away the darkness.
