Duncan and Banquo spend a little time talking about how pretty and peaceful this place is. (Remember: one of the big themes of this play is "nothing is as it seems to be.") |
Enter Lady Macbeth. DUNCAN See, see our honored hostess!— LADY MACBETH All our service, | When Lady Macbeth enters, Duncan is very complimentary and thanks her for her hospitality. (He has no idea what she has planned for him.) Lady Macbeth is pretty charming here—she says that the Macbeths are grateful for the "honours" bestowed on Macbeth by the king, and she tells the men to make themselves at home. |
