Character Analysis
Besides winning the "Weirdest Name of the Film Award," Lampwick shows us what Pinocchio would be like if he had a worse attitude. It's not a pretty sight, folks.
Lampwick and Pinocchio become fast friends on Pleasure Island, playing pool, smoking cigars, and even indulging in some adult beverages. In other words, they're bad kids.
Although Pinocchio's hesitant about this debauchery, Lampwick puts the pedal to the metal and keeps stomping.
Just look at how he reacts to Jiminy's arrival:
LAMPWICK: What? You mean to tell me you take orders from a grasshopper?
Too bad Lampwick doesn't have a conscience of his own, however—it might have saved him from spending the rest of his life on four hooves. Oh well. Through his failings, Lampwick shows Pinocchio what his life might look like if he doesn't get his act together and heed the Blue Fairy's words. Let's just hope it's enough to scare him straight.
