Monstro the Whale
Character Analysis
In case the name doesn't make it clear, Monstro is a seriously monstrous whale.
Think of him as the Final Boss. Pinocchio has dealt with the underlings—con-men like Honest John, exploiters like Stromboli, and sadists like the Coachman—but Monstro is something different. Monstro is pure evil.
We're quaking in our boots.
Remember how the Blue Fairy says that "a lie keeps growing and growing until it's as plain as the nose on your face"? Well, we think that a similar thing is happening in general to Pinocchio. As Pinocchio makes increasingly terrible decisions, the threats he faces continue "growing and growing" until they finally land him in Monstro's lair.
Despite facing heavy odds, Pinocchio manages the save Geppetto from Monstro's belly and best this mighty ocean mammal. Not bad for a day's work. That Ahab fellow could sure learn a thing or two from this kid, huh?
