Shakespeare. You know him. You love him. (Or you don't.) And his name is in the title, so of course you root for him. The film humanizes Shakespeare, who is almost a mythical figure in modern day. It does this by making him a man struggling with his professional life and with his love life. It basically transforms him into a character in one of his own plays.
