We Were Liars Chapter 11 Summary

  • Cadence tells us about Granny Tipper, who died of heart failure eight months before summer fifteen.
  • Tipper "was quick to judge and played favorites," but Cadence loved her. Tipper baked muffins and let her eat as many as she wanted.
  • Cadence goes to Tipper's sewing room at Clairmont, where her grandmother made quilts. She imagines herself turning to liquid and rusting the sewing machine.
  • The other Sinclairs are pretending Tipper never existed, which is what they do after death or divorce. Gat doesn't get it, though, so he keeps mentioning her.
  • Gat's still an outsider; Cadence still loves him. They've been kissing and touching when nobody's looking.
